Water Rising

Tennessee 04:08
I drove through Tennessee today Passing life in my own way I thought for long of words to say 'Bout the mountains and the water I drive past signs, they point me on Halfway down the road, I'm gone I cannot see where I belong But I'm counting all the days And up the hills I climb Towards the clouds and bright blue skies And I cannot seem to describe Tennessee And the road I'm on I'm driving past a green grass field And all at once I cannot yield The way the light of sun reveals All the colors in the day And oh this road I'm driving down Reminds me of my own home town And if they all could see me now How I'm making my own way And up the hills I climb Towards the clouds and bright blue skies And I cannot seem to describe Tennessee And the road I'm on Yeah you have your words About things that I do But I will not give up I'll follow through Yes I'll follow through I've seen this sun, yeah, I've seen this sun before I've seen this open I've seen this open door I've seen the way it makes me see so much more I've seen this sun, yeah I've seen this sun before I've seen this open I've seen this open door And up the hills I climb Towards the clouds and bright blue skies And I cannot seem to describe Tennessee And the road I'm on

I stand within I stand and grin For all our words and motions We wanted life With all it's worlds And every drop of every ocean I let you rewind And then you You left me behind And I will Fade into the darkness Where I can't be heard And I will Chase the silence of your every secret word Cause I am Not your answer and I'm not your chosen girl And I will Fade Into the Background of your ever changing world Do you see me for everything Or all I have to offer? Our every day Just melted in With all your broken books And rafters And I will Fade into the darkness Where I can't be heard And I will Chase the silence of your every secret word Cause I am Not your answer and I'm not your chosen girl And I will Fade Into the Background of your ever changing world Trade me in Trade me because you You know you can Trade me in because it's It's easier then Trade me in because you know if you will and you would Then you'd win Fade into the darkness Where I can't be heard And I will Chase the silence of your every secret word Cause I am Not your answer and I'm not your chosen girl And I will Fade Into the Background of your ever changing world Fade Into the Background of your ever changing world Fade Into the Background of your world....

I wait for Water Rising I take your hand in mine We look to the horizon We know there's no more time Awake my heart is racing Asleep my mind is free Awake my eyes are bleeding Asleep you're gone from me It's arms are cold and hurried Your hands were always warm I feel you fingers ripping Away into the storm Awake my heart is racing Asleep my mind is free Awake my eyes are bleeding Asleep you're gone from me Awake my heart from dreaming Awake my eyes from tears Awake my mind from slipping Awake me from my fears

Waking in the early morning To the sound of all your sweaters And your ragged magazines Keeping eyes closed So you will not know That I am floating somewhere In between the hole in my dreams And I cannot begin to Find the words to tell you Of how afraid I am Of never moving forward in my life And I cannot begin Fight my way through this roof So I stay inside, Pull the covers to my eyes And it makes me Hide Take me on this Ride Wishing you were waiting for me With a bottle of rose, on a Sunday afternoon Wishing we could just move slowly But afraid of all the consequences slow movements do And I cannot begin to Find my honest and true Or past the televised importance of All the things we do And I cannot begin to Fight my way through this roof So I stay inside Pull the covers to my eyes And it makes me Hide Take me on this Ride And I wait Yes I wait I wait Yes I wait And it makes me Hide Take me on this Ride Hide Take me on this Ride Hide Take me on this Ride Hide Hide Hide Hide Take me on this Ride Ride Ride Oooh

about

"Water Rising" is Mary's third EP, to be released on December 10, 2010.

Mary began writing for this album in early 2010 with the song "Hide," followed up by "Water Rising" and "Into the Background." The song "Tennessee" was written in the spring of 2009 while Mary was on a southern tour.

This album brings in more of the full band country sound Mary has been moving towards, but keeping the intimate, honest and striking quality of her ballads.
